• Print quality / DPI — set the highest quality your printer offers for image-based copies, which are rendered as page images.
• Duplex and paper size — confirm A4 vs. Letter matches the original so nothing is cropped.

Which method prints best?

Image-based unlocking is the default and prints cleanly for most documents. Because each page becomes a high-resolution image, it is reliable across printers but produces a slightly larger file. If you need crisp vector text, exact spot color, or preserved form fields for a fillable document, choose Direct decryption to keep the original PDF structure before printing. For photo-heavy pages the difference is minimal; for text-heavy contracts, Direct decryption keeps letters razor-sharp at any zoom.

Printing from a phone

You can unlock and print entirely from a phone. After downloading the unlocked copy, use AirPrint on iPhone or a Mopria/manufacturer print service on Android to send it to a compatible printer on the same network.
